Xavier Bettel to Attend EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels

Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, Xavier Bettel, is set to take part in a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels on 16 March 2026. The gathering will bring together foreign ministers from across the European Union to discuss important global and regional issues.

One of the key topics on the agenda will be the ongoing war in Ukraine and its wider impact on European security and international relations. Ministers will also exchange views on developments in the Middle East and discuss the EU’s relationship with countries in its southern neighbourhood.

During the meeting, ministers are also expected to take part in an informal lunch discussion with India’s External Affairs Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The conversation will focus on strengthening cooperation and bilateral relations between the European Union and India.

The meeting is part of the EU’s regular diplomatic coordination efforts, where member states discuss foreign policy priorities and respond collectively to international developments. Luxembourg will contribute to these discussions through the participation of its foreign affairs minister.
