Thrill Rides and Festive Spirit Make 2025 Schueberfouer a Hit Despite Rain

The 2025 edition of Luxembourg’s beloved Schueberfouer fair is closing its doors this Wednesday evening after drawing nearly two million visitors, proving once again that bad weather is no match for tradition, excitement, and community spirit.
Although heavy rain briefly forced rides to pause on Monday evening and even led the City of Luxembourg to close the fairgrounds early at 11 p.m., the overall success of this year’s event was undeniable. “We already had several rainy days last week, and yet 2025 has been a very good year for the Schueberfouer,” said Charel Hary, president of the National Federation of Fairground Traders. “Families came in great numbers, and visitors left very satisfied.”

A Winning Formula
Hary credited the success largely to an expanded lineup of thrill rides, which attracted crowds and kept the aisles buzzing. “The city made the right choices in allocating space. The big rides drew a wide audience, and everyone benefited. Even the restaurants were full throughout the fair,” he explained.

A Strong Finish
The fair traditionally ends on a high note, and this year is no exception. Wednesday’s program features half-price rides until 8 p.m. and the traditional closing fireworks at 10 p.m., expected to attract a final wave of visitors before the fair closes at 1 a.m.

A Timeless Tradition
Founded in 1340 by John the Blind, Count of Luxembourg, the Schueberfouer has weathered centuries of change—and even devastating storms like those seen in past editions. Yet each year, it remains one of Luxembourg’s most cherished events, bringing together locals and visitors alike in a celebration of food, fun, and fairground thrills.
