Saturday’s strong winds kept emergency services across Luxembourg busy, as the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) received around 340 weather-related calls. Gusts were particularly forceful in some areas, leading to 27 reports of fallen trees or large branches and causing minor but widespread disruption.
According to CGDIS, most incidents involved blocked roads, damaged vehicles, or debris on public property. While much of the damage was limited, the wind did lead to three injuries on Saturday evening when trees fell onto cars.
The severe weather followed a yellow wind warning issued by MeteoLux earlier in the day, with strong gusts forecast from the afternoon into the evening. By late night, conditions began to ease, and meteorologists now expect calmer weather on Sunday, bringing a brief pause after the blustery day.
Despite the volume of calls, emergency services managed to respond swiftly, ensuring that the majority of incidents were cleared without major damage or prolonged disruption.
