Luxembourg’s National Lottery (Loterie Nationale) has confirmed that personal information belonging to customers was compromised following a cybersecurity incident involving one of its subcontractors, the company managing the sports betting platform loteriesport.lu.
The breach appears to have exposed sensitive personal data, including names, contact details like addresses and phone numbers, banking information, and records of betting transactions. Officials emphasized, however, that passwords and credit card details were not affected.
All individuals who may have been impacted have already been notified, and the National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD) has been officially informed of the incident, in line with GDPR requirements.
While loteriesport.lu remains operational, the National Lottery has activated immediate remediation protocols. They are working with the subcontractor to restore security, address vulnerabilities, and ensure the protection of personal data going forward.
