Luxembourg’s Big Tech Push: AI, Data & Quantum for a Smarter Future

Luxembourg’s government has unveiled a major national strategy that brings artificial intelligence (AI), data and quantum technologies together to boost the country’s digital strength and global competitiveness. This plan, known as “Accelerating Digital Sovereignty 2030,” aims to make Luxembourg a European leader in cutting-edge technologies by supporting innovation, infrastructure upgrades and governance frameworks that protect citizens and businesses. 

At the heart of the strategy is a focus on responsible and human-centric AI, where tools are developed with strong ethical and regulatory safeguards. The government also plans to promote AI use across industries such as finance, healthcare, energy and public services to improve efficiency and services.

Better data governance is another key aspect, with the strategy promoting safe, responsible data sharing and reuse to fuel innovation across sectors and support economic growth. Luxembourg is also investing in its sovereign data infrastructure to help both public and private actors make the most of digital opportunities. 

Quantum technology, still emerging globally, is highlighted in the plan as a strategic area for future computing and secure communications, aligning Luxembourg with broader European efforts like EuroQCI and quantum research collaborations.

The strategy also stresses the need for education, training and collaboration to build local talent and ensure that people and businesses can participate fully in the digital transition.
