Luxembourg Plans Flights to Bring Citizens Home

The government of Luxembourg is preparing measures to help citizens return home from the Middle East as tensions in the region have disrupted travel. Authorities estimate that around 600 Luxembourg residents and travellers are currently in the area and may need assistance returning safely.

The operation is being coordinated by the country’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs together with the Ministry of Mobility and Public Works. Officials are working closely with the national airline Luxair to organise special flights that could bring passengers back to Luxembourg in the coming days.

In addition to commercial flights, the government is also studying other possibilities in cooperation with European partners. One option includes the possible use of military aircraft such as the Airbus A400M Atlas or aircraft from the NATO multinational MRTT fleet if extra capacity is needed.

Authorities say priority will be given to vulnerable travellers, including families with young children, elderly passengers, and people with medical conditions. Officials will contact registered travellers directly once travel arrangements are confirmed.

The government continues to monitor the situation closely and is advising Luxembourg citizens in the region to stay in contact with consular services.
