Luxembourg Introduces Simpler and Faster Tax Filing System

Luxembourg is taking steps to simplify its tax declaration process, making it easier and more efficient for residents to file their taxes. Starting in March 2026, eligible taxpayers will receive pre-filled tax declarations based on information already available to the tax administration. This includes details such as income and other financial data, reducing the need for manual input.

The new system allows taxpayers to review the pre-filled information, make any necessary corrections, and submit their declaration quickly. This approach is designed to save time, reduce errors, and make the process more user-friendly, especially for individuals with straightforward financial situations.

The official tax filing period is expected to begin in April 2026, with flexible deadlines to give taxpayers enough time to complete their submissions. In addition to the simplified forms, the government plans to offer support services, including guidance and assistance for those who may need help understanding or completing their declarations.

This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize Luxembourg’s public services and improve efficiency. By reducing administrative complexity and offering more accessible solutions, authorities aim to encourage timely tax compliance and improve the overall experience for residents.
