Luxembourg’s Wiltz to Gain 42 Affordable Homes Through Innovative Modular Project

LuxembourgPosted on 16 October 2025 by Team

The Fonds du Logement has launched a new modular construction project in Wiltz’s “Geetz” district, part of the larger Wunne mat der Wooltz initiative. The €17.5 million investment will deliver 42 affordable housing units, including five apartment residences and 16 single-family homes ranging from one to four bedrooms (58–129 m²).

Using prefabricated modules built and equipped off-site, the project aims to speed up construction while reducing environmental impact. Once transported, the fully fitted modules — complete with kitchens, bathrooms, and technical systems — will be assembled on-site, ensuring higher efficiency and quality.

Located between the train station, the new school campus, and the Wooltz River, the Geetz district will ultimately feature 76 units and a multifunctional building. Designed for sustainable living, it will include limited car access and shared parking, prioritizing pedestrian and cyclist mobility.

Spanning 34 hectares between Oberwiltz and Niederwiltz, the Wunne mat der Wooltz development envisions a modern community with over 1,000 homes, shops, schools, and green spaces.

The launch ceremony was attended by Wiltz Mayor Carole Weigel, Housing Fund Chair Diane Dupont, and Director Jacques Vandivinit.
