Since establishing its European headquarters in Luxembourg in 2003, Amazon has grown into one of the country’s largest employers and a major driver of economic activity. A new study by Keystone Strategy, presented on Friday, highlights the company’s far-reaching impact on the Grand Duchy.
Today, Amazon directly employs 4,250 people in Kirchberg, representing 100 different nationalities. Beyond that, the company supports some 4,900 indirect jobs and more than 1,400 induced jobs — a total of over 10,500 positions linked to its presence in Luxembourg.
The tech giant has also become a heavyweight investor. In 2024 alone, Amazon poured €1.8 billion into the country, contributing more than €10 billion over the past decade. Last year, its activities added around €700 million to Luxembourg’s GDP.
Local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) also benefit: around 150 Luxembourgish businesses sold one million products through Amazon’s platform in 2024, generating more than €45 million in export revenue.
“Luxembourg is the centre of excellence for our European activities,” said Mariangela Marseglia, Amazon’s Vice-President for Stores in the EU. She underlined that Luxembourg teams are central to decision-making, strategic planning, finance, and regulatory compliance for Amazon’s European stores.

The figures were warmly welcomed by Economy Minister Lex Delles, who described Amazon’s long-term presence as proof of Luxembourg’s attractiveness as a hub for global business. “Amazon’s continued investment shows not only confidence in our economy but also a strong contribution to our workforce and society,” he said.
