Recall Alert: Reblochon Cheese Withdrawn Over E. Coli Risk in Luxembourg

LuxembourgPosted on 10 November 2025 by Team

The Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) has issued an urgent recall warning for Reblochon de Savoie AOP cheese of the Masson brand, after detecting the presence of the E. coli STEC bacterium in one of its batches. Consumers are strongly advised not to eat this product due to the risk of illness.

The affected batch number is 5-258V, with a use-by date from November 2 to 6, 2025, and was sold between October 22 and 31, 2025.

ALVA warns that consuming contaminated cheese poses a medium risk of infection. The E. coli bacterium can cause fever, watery or bloody diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and severe abdominal pain. While the illness generally lasts eight to ten days, young children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to complications such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a rare but serious condition affecting the kidneys.

Consumers who have already eaten the recalled cheese and are showing symptoms should seek medical attention immediately and inform their doctor about the possible exposure.

Authorities urge caution and emphasize that the contaminated batch should not be consumed under any circumstances.
