Luxembourg Celebrates Excellence in Performing Arts at the 2025 Stage Awards

The world of theatre, dance, and music came together on Thursday evening at the Mersch Theatre for the "Lëtzebuerger Bünepräisser" 2025, Luxembourg’s highest recognition in the performing arts. In front of a full house, the country’s most talented artists and productions were honoured across eight categories.

Opening the evening, Culture Minister Eric Thill (DP) highlighted the importance of the awards: “The Lëtzebuerger Bünepräisser increase the visibility of the performing arts and give our artists the recognition they deserve.” This year’s ceremony marked the first time that the Stage Awards combined the former Theatre Awards, the Theatre Prize for Children and Young People, and the Dance Prize, which has existed since 2011.

Among the major winners was director and theatre director Frank Hoffmann, who received the Luxembourg Theatre Prize for his lifetime achievements. Dance teacher and contemporary dance pioneer Christiane Eiffes was awarded the Luxembourg Dance Prize for her decades-long contribution to the national scene.

Other winners included Sophie Langevin’s direction of Les Glaces for Best Production and the children’s play D'Julie an den Aprikosejong, which was recognised as Best Production for Children and Youth. Rising talent Antoine Pohu was honoured for his songwriting in Spring Awakenings and Pandora, while Christian Klein received recognition for his set design work.

Performers Céline Camara and choreographer William Cardoso were also celebrated for their outstanding stage contributions, underscoring the diversity and strength of Luxembourg’s artistic community.

The evening not only celebrated individual excellence but also shone a spotlight on the vitality of Luxembourg’s performing arts, which continue to grow in visibility and recognition both at home and abroad.
