It is said that if you want to live a long, healthy life, you must exercise regularly. Exercise can help in weight loss, reducing the risk of diseases like diabetes, improve heart health, and also improve metabolism and digestion. Healthy digestion is important to keep your body and stomach light, detoxed and keep problems like bloating away. No matter how healthy you eat, if it does not get digested properly, it is of little benefit to your health. So the 6 tips for a healthy digestion are: 1. BRISK WALKING Brisk walking for 20 to 30 minutes daily keeps you away from digestive problems. It stimulates intestinal contractility, helping with passage of stool through the colon. 2. BIKING A bike ride for 10-15 minutes is quite effective in getting the digestive system back on track. It allows food to move quickly through the large intestine and decrease the amount of water lost in the stool. Thus, it creates a healthy digestive environment. 3. YOGA Yoga asanas can be used to cure stomach pain and indigestion. Yoga asanas like the boat pose, child's pose, downward and upward dog, are great for improving digestion and also losing belly fat. They stretch and relax muscles in the abdomen and avoid problems like bloating and acidity. Yoga can also help you reduce stress which is another factor that causes bad digestion. SPORTS Playing sports renders more than just physical benefits. Engagement in sports on a regular basis is one of the easiest ways to keep the digestive tract healthy. Try to make sports a part of your routine. 5. EAT WELL Eating a healthy, balanced diet is key for maintaining our overall health and wellbeing. When it comes to aiding digestion and bowel health, fibre plays a particularly important role by keeping everything moving through the digestive system. 6. DRINK WATER We should be drinking around 6-8 glasses of water a day in order to stay hydrated. Drinking a glass of water after every meal or snack counts towards this goal and also helps flush out toxins and aid digestion.
