Hydrogen trains in UK

Hydrogen trains are more eco-friendly, as diesel trains emit harmful gases. Hydrogen trains are still incredibly rare and there are only two in active service in the entire world which is in Germany.

Porterbrook and the University of Birmingham’s Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) have confirmed that the UK’s first hydrogen train, HydroFLEX, will be tested on the main line railway following a successful proof-of-concept. Read more
