ALDI and Favorina Marshmallows Recalled in Luxembourg Over Health Concerns

LuxembourgPosted on 29 October 2025 by Team

The Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) has issued two product withdrawal alerts after detecting the possible presence of excessive mineral oil hydrocarbons in marshmallows sold under the ALDI and Favorina brands.

The affected ALDI marshmallows (200g) were sold between October 6 and 27, with an expiration date of June 2026, while the Favorina marshmallows (200g) — expiring in May 2026 — were distributed across multiple retail locations in Luxembourg.

According to ALVA, mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH) are considered food contaminants and may contain potentially carcinogenic compounds. The agency warns that regular consumption over time could pose a health risk.

As a precaution, Aldi urges consumers not to eat these marshmallows and to return them to any store for a full refund, even without proof of purchase.

For questions or additional information, customers can contact Aldi’s customer service via email at serviceclients@aldi.lu.
