Luxembourg Prepares Historic Tour with Guillaume and National Personalities

Behind closed doors in a modest office on the ninth floor of a capital building, the team at Atelier has been quietly shaping the celebrations planned for 4 October—a day set to mark history in Luxembourg. Apart from a discreet sign reading “grand-duchy” on the door, nothing reveals that this is the heart of the upcoming festivities’ organisation.

The concept began in October 2024, when organisers asked themselves a simple but profound question: “What would an ideal day look like for the Grand Duke?” The answer they arrived at was equally clear—a tour to meet the people of Luxembourg.

For this first journey, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume will not walk alone. At each stop, he will be joined by well-known Luxembourgish personalities, acting as his “godfathers” and “godmothers” throughout the tour. Among them are chef Léa Linster, who has already accompanied him in Steinfort, tennis champion Anne Kremer, and athlete Patrizia Van der Weken, who will join him in Dudelange.

The day will culminate in a symbolic moment at the Glacis, where all of Guillaume’s companions will gather to present a collective gift on behalf of the population. Later, at 8:05 p.m., the Grand Ducal couple will step onto the Red Bridge to meet citizens through a unique tram ballet performance.

The event will be more than spectacle—it will reflect the values and priorities Guillaume has chosen for his reign. Among eight guiding themes, resilience stands out. “It’s about the people who protect, who monitor, who help the population,” explains Atelier director Laurent Loschetter. The tram ballet itself promises to be both artistic and technically demanding: “We’re really going to come close to cardiac arrest for each technician,” Loschetter joked.
