Luxembourg has unveiled a new nationwide 10-point plan designed to make financial literacy a stronger, more practical part of the school experience. The initiative aims to
equip students—from early primary classes to secondary education—with the skills they need to understand money, make responsible choices and navigate real-world financial situations.
Under the plan, schools will gradually integrate concepts like budgeting, saving, digital payments, credit awareness and smart spending into everyday lessons. Younger children will learn through storytelling and playful activities, while older students will benefit from interactive magazines, hands-on projects, and optional certification pathways recognising advanced financial competence.
The Ministry is also introducing new learning materials for teachers, partnerships with financial-education experts, and a “Financial Literacy Label” to highlight schools that actively promote financial skills. Most measures are expected to roll out starting from the 2026/2027 academic year, with the long-term goal of helping every student develop confidence and independence in managing their finances.
