Robots at Home: New Study to Help Autistic Children Through Early-Development Support

LuxembourgPosted on 08 December 2025 by Team

LuxAI in collaboration with Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) and University of Birmingham — has launched the first large-scale study to explore at-home, robot-led early development support for autistic children using their social robot QTrobot.

The initiative aims to assess whether QTrobot, which can speak, gesture, and simulate facial expressions — can effectively support early childhood development and social learning in autistic children outside clinical or school settings.

If successful, this could mark a significant shift in autism therapy: offering more flexible, home-based support that reduces barriers for families who may not have easy access to traditional therapy centers. Experts hope the findings will inform future therapeutic models and expand access to early intervention worldwide.
