The great voice of Portugal comes to Echternach with her album Maria. On international stages, the young fadista's sensational performances are celebrated as a musical revelation.

After her great success with the album Carminho Canta Jobim (2016), her fifth album Maria is her most personal yet. Because she not only wrote the majority of the songs, but also produced it herself. Carminho is currently considered the best and most innovative fado singer worldwide and has been celebrated as the "new voice of fado" far beyond Portugal since her debut Fado (2009). All three of her follow-up albums, Alma (2012), Canto (2014) and Carminho Canta Tom Jobim (2016) went straight to number one in the Portuguese charts. In 2015, she was appointed Commendador of the Order of the Infante Dom Henrique.

Marly Marques

For her new project, Marly Marques is accompanied by jazz musicians Riaz Khabirpour, Niels Engel and Boris Schmidt. The singer honours her Portuguese origins and her love of Spanish and Latin American music by inviting the audience on a journey full of nostalgia that takes them to traditional songs of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America, from Fado to Bossa Nova and Bolero.

Traditional music fuses with jazz to create a very special sound, carried by the warm voice of Marly Marques and the sensitivity of her musicians.
