For 30 years, Dulce Pontes has become a conspicuous voice for fado fans, world music and classical music.
Pianist, composer, performer, her hit "Cançao do Mar" which captivated everyone in 1995, is still one of the audience's favorite songs in her concerts, and consecrated Dulce as the renovator of fado taking over Amalia Rodrigues, whose Portugal celebrates throughout 2020 the centenary of the birth of their great diva.
Her artistic qualities, her classical training and cultural concerns have made Dulce Pontes a restless traveler to blend collaborations with the greatest artists of the world. The one with Ennio Morricone in 2003, which gave birth to the album “Focus” with 300,000 copies sold and several world tours, is especially cherished for Dulce. During all these years she kept a close relationship with the Italian genius, who passed away just over two months ago. Thus, in the concerts of the Portuguese artist a part is always reserved for the songs she performed with Ennio, such as "Cinema Paradiso".
But the 2021 concerts of Dulce will also take us to Brazil. She will make us rediscover songs full of strength, dance and sensuality of the Brazilian star Elis Regina, who died prematurely in the 80’s. As no one has yet paid tribute to this voice and this immense personality, Dulce Pontes takes that responsibility in her concerts. Also Dulce’s new record, “Para Elis”, including many collaborations of Brazilian big names, will also be released next year.
The second half of 2021 will therefore be another “tour de force” for Dulce Pontes. Concerts programmed in the major cities of Europe (London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Brussels, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona, Lisbon) and America (Sao Paulo, Rio, Bogota and Ciudad de Mexico) will make the public again discover an exceptional, unique artist such as Elia, whom we keep in our memory and we want to enjoy on stage.
She will be accompanied on her concerts by Yelsy Heredia (Cuba, double bass, the best of his generation, former usual collaborator of Chucho Valdés), Luis Guerreiro (Portuguese guitar, usual collaborator of other Portuguese stars such as Mariza), and Sergio Fernandez (Piano, Cuba).
